Grilled food, campfire music and a comfortable lawn chair – it’s pretty tough to beat the campground experience at a good music festival.
Camping questions have started pouring into Rooster Walk headquarters, so we figured this would be a good time to cover a few of the basics about setting up shop at Blue Mountain on May 28-29.
Primitive, on-site camping is available for $10 per vehicle, so get your friends and pile into one ride if you want to save a little cash.
Tent campers, as well as owners of tow-behind campers, will be asked to park separately from their campsite this year as we try to maximize space and place campers more efficiently.
RW returnees will find a new feature this year, as we’ve added a family campground. Rooster Walk staffers will enforce quiet time during sleeping hours in the family area, so that you festival goers who want a little shut-eye won’t be awakened by the acoustic version of “Wild Horses” at 4 a.m. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that … in the proper campground.)
If you’d like to stay in the family camping area, just tell the gate attendant when you arrive at Blue Mountain, and they’ll direct you where to go.
Though we can’t offer electrical/sewage hookups, RVs are welcome at Blue Mountain with a pre-ordered $25 RV pass. RV passes will not be sold on-site, however, so make sure to purchase yours in advance here.
It’s important to note that Blue Mountain does not have permanent bath house facilities, so please plan and pack accordingly. Portajohns will be available on-site, as will hand washing stations.
Campfires are allowed in designated areas within the general and family campgrounds.
Gates will open at noon Friday, with music beginning around 5 p.m.
